Aqina Group's Journey

Our story began over 20 years ago, driven by a simple passion: providing families with delicious, healthy chicken products. Our founder, Dato' Tan Chin Long, started by trading live chickens from Malaysia to Singapore. As our customer base grew, so did our vision. In 1994, Boong Poultry Pte Ltd was born, marking our first step into a larger mission.


We didn't stop there. Recognizing the increasing demand, we expanded into semi-integrated chicken production, owning farms in Malaysia to ensure fresh, high-quality products for our valued clients.


But our ambition extended beyond just volume. We envisioned ourselves as a "Healthier Meat Choices" provider, committed to offering halal-processed chicken that met ethical and sustainable standards. This led to the establishment of our state-of-the-art slaughtering and processing plant in 2015, certified by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia.


Over the years, Aqina Group has grown significantly, investing in poultry processing, production, and kampung chicken breeding. We're relentless in our pursuit of quality, implementing stringent measures to ensure every product meets the expectations of our valued customers.

  • Early Beginnings (1984 - 1999)

    • Dato' Tan Chin Long establishes live chicken trading in Singapore.
    • Boong Farming Trading is registered for live chicken trade.
    • Boong Poultry Pte Ltd incorporates to trade live and processed poultry in Singapore.

  • Expansion and Growth (2000 - 2010)

    • Commences kampung chicken breeding in Johor, Malaysia.
    • Aqinajaya Sdn Bhd incorporates for halal processed poultry and starts its first small slaughtering plant.
    • Aqina Holdings Sdn Bhd is established as an investment and holding company.
    • Dato' Tan invests in Aqinajaya to venture into chicken meat processing.
    • Aqina Farming Sdn Bhd and Boong Farming Trading Sdn Bhd incorporate to focus on breeding, trading, and logistics.

  • Consolidation and Diversification (2011 - 2016)

    • Boong Poultry Pte Ltd acquires a factory in Singapore for poultry processing.
    • Wilayah Food Trading Sdn Bhd incorporates for broiler breeding, live bird trading, and halal processing.
    • Aqina Trading (formerly Aqina Biotech Industries Sdn Bhd) incorporates for halal product distribution in Malaysia.
    • Boong Food Pte Ltd establishes a non-halal meat business in Singapore.
    • Aqinajaya and Boong Poultry receive certifications for quality and halal standards.

  • Continued Growth and Recognition (2017 - Present)

    • Wilayah Food Trading and Aqinajaya receive halal certifications.
    • Aqinajaya achieves various certifications for quality, health, and halal standards for its products and facilities.
